Some 18 children from bushfire-affected Nicholson Primary School will receive a holiday by the beach, after the success of the 2023 Wakanyanas event, at which Ivanhoe Lodge was major sponsor.

A donation of $22,123 was made to the Queenscliff-based Cottage By The Sea to host the youngsters, with the annual December 28 fundraiser providing the funds, with major support from Freemasons Foundation Victoria which provided an $8000 donation.

Foundation Chair Garry James travelled to Queenscliff to make the presentation. The annual afternoon event, which started in 1916, has raised $200,000 for Cottage By The Sea, which gives a holiday by the beach to disadvanted children.

A number of Ivanhoe Lodges members were present, accompanied by family members, attended. Todd Little was the ‘Tax Collector’, Graeme Hawke was providore, and Ash Long was the ‘Grand Scribbler’.

Ivanhoe Lodge members will also participate in the 2024 event to be held on Saturday, December 28, at the Queenscliff Masonic Centre. More details at available at www.wakas.com.au
